With its strong involvement in the beekeeping industry, the city of Oxford is exploring becoming an official Bee City Affiliate, a standing that creates policies to encourage healthy pollinator habitats in a community. In the effort to become an official Bee City, Oxford is increasing the amount of its pollinator habitats for bees. Creating these sustainable habitats for pollinators is vital to helping feed us the food we know and love today. Pollinators such as bees transfer pollen and seeds from one flower to another, fertilizing the plant so it can grow and produce food. Without these honey bees, not only would we experience the loss of honey, but many food crops would die off as well.
