Veterans Day in Oxford, OH brings together the community in showing support and gratitude for war veterans in Oxford and the surrounding area. Gather the whole family together for a fun day of learning about our veterans and celebrating their service to our country. This year’s Veterans Appreciation Day is Saturday, November 11 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in Uptown Park (4 S Main St. Oxford, OH 45056).
The celebration will begin at 10:00 am with a reception at the LCNB Bank, followed by a ceremony at noon at Martin Luther King Jr. Park. Enjoy hearing stories, memories and words of thanks from veterans and community members. Kids are always welcome to this ceremony!
After the ceremony, join the Oxford community in a service event to help local families in need of food. Oxford Empty Bowls, a benefit soup luncheon will start after the Veterans Day Appreciation Day Ceremony, at 11:00 a.m. at the Oxford Community Arts Center (10 S College Ave. Oxford, OH 45056).
This luncheon celebrates art and service in the Oxford community. The event will bring together the works of Miami University and Talawanda High School ceramics students, Oxford area potters and local cooks to raise funds for the Oxford Community Choice Pantry’s programs that supply food to local families in need.
Guests choose among a collection of locally-made bowls and enjoy their choice of locally-made soup. Guests are encouraged to bring home their empty bowls at the end of the luncheon, as a reminder that there are always empty bowls in the world. Drinks, as well as homemade bread and desserts will be donated by local businesses.
Admission is $10 per person and free for children under 10.
If you want to start your day off with a bit of exercise while simluanteously showing support and appreciation for our veterans, then join a special Veteran's Day MOVE Outdoor Bootcamp with Renate Crawford.
